When Cristina Rapti-Tzelepi and her husband Constantinos Raptis lost their 21-year-old son in a tragic road crash, their world shattered. That was October. While holding a baby born from a 22-year-old embryo sounds like science fiction, it happens more than you think. Last year, an Ohio family welcomed a baby boy from an embryo frozen for over three decades, securing a spot in the record books.

Constantinos, now 60, held his newborn daughter as she slept wrapped in a white bodysuit. He was blunt about what the successful birth meant for their mental survival.
"He took us by the hand and pulled us out of our deepest darkness," Constantinos said, referring to their medical team. "We escaped from that darkness, and I believe we have a lot to live for now."
Naming the baby Georgia wasn't just a nod to their late son Giorgos—who was also born via IVF two decades ago—it was a deliberate act of continuity. It's about keeping a family story alive when it threatened to end prematurely.
The couple isn't even ruling out trying for another child, noting they might travel abroad if domestic age ceilings block their path.
